Is Fluoride Toothpaste Worth The Risk?

So what’s the deal with fluoride in our tooth products? I grew up with it and always trusted those big brands. I knew alternatives existed, but I never knew really why I should make a switch. That was all I knew before I researched what fluoride actually is and if it was necessary. Long story short, I found that I actually don’t really need it.

The absorption of this ingredient can cause permanent tooth discoloration, stomach ailments, acute toxicity, skin rashes and impairment in glucose metabolism. Because the symptoms of acute fluoride toxicity mimic other, common ailments many cases of fluoride poisoning go undiagnosed or mistreated. That’s why it’s best to go fluoride-free- Dr Brite Blog

Crocodile Kids.jpgIf you brush your teeth everyday (like most humans), then you kinda got it going on in the tooth department! Fluoride could help to re-mineralize my teeth if they were past damaged, but if I brush my teeth properly plaque never gets to erode my teeth to that degree of necessity!

There’s so many natural dental care products out there now, but my heart belongs to Dr Brite. I used to get the black activated charcoal toothpaste (remember those black teeth?)I’ve tried them all- Toms, Primal, Dr Bronners, and Sensodyne. What I love is that Dr Brite dental care products contains minerals, a white activated charcoal, aloe vera, vitamin C, and more. You can read the full ingredients below. I feel that they actually care about the health of the teeth and gums AND it whitens. I was surprised to find it did the same whitening job as any Crest whitening products.

The first product I tried was the Whitening Mineral Toothpaste. The paste doesn’t bubble up and taste sweet. I could see where the paste was going and feel it gently scrubbing my teeth. I feel like I had a lot of control with this paste. It did the job on freshening, whitening, and has tons of good ingredients. My husband loves this paste too!

The second product I tried was the Activated Charcoal Cleansing Mouth Rinse. It was seriously like swishing sweet mint water. No burn, bitter taste, or anything! I actually found myself using it more than twice a day. It freshened my breath quite well, and I knew that the aloe and coconut oil was moisturizing my gums.

I also got the Dr Brite Mineral Toothpaste for Kids (Healthy Kids Set) and I love that mouthwash is an actual spray. I can’t get a 2 year old to gargle, so this was great! Also, this seriously adorable crocodille was from Target and was great for practice
